e-books available through Regent Library can be checked out (usually for the purpose of downloading) for a variable time period. The exact length of checkout will depend on the e-book provider. For example, with EBSCO you can check out a book for up to 7 days, still others are available for 14 days. You will likely need to create an account with the e-book provider in order to download the book.

You may need special software to view a downloaded copy of your e-book because of the file format. With EBSCO and Ebook Central, for example, you need to download Adobe Digital Editions (.ascm format). A notification regarding software requirements will be present when you attempt to download the book.

After your check out period has expired the e-books file you've downloaded will no longer work.
